Rebuilding a booster pump for a pool cleaner/pool sweep

Disconnect booster pump power and booster pump plumbing
Unscrew 6 bolts # 9, from Booster Pump Volute # 1.
Pop off pump volute and unscrew impeller off shaft C.C.W.
This will be easy if your motor is locked up,but if not hold motor shaft between pump and motor or hold motor shaft at REAR of motor with a screwdriver on the CENTER of the armature
Take small inspection cover button off first from the back center of motor.
Unscrew 4 bolt # 6, off the Sealplate/Motor mounting plate # 5.
Slide the motor out of the booster housing plate.
We stock the exact replacement motor with long threaded shaft ( no extra shaft needed ) $125.00

Now take Impeller # 2 and screw it back on the motor shaft,if it wobbles at all you need a new one as it will not seal water.
Next take the steel and spring loaded part of the seal, out of the seal plate # 5.
Do this from the back by using a socket large enough to tap in out evenly.Clean area and install new spring seal.Do this properly by siliconing the metal part of seal that mates with seal plate # 5.
Proper seal installation here IS the life and death of your booster pump
Use a socket large enough to mate with the metal lip of the seal beyond the spring portion and drive in the housing slowly making sure you do not distort the seal metal portion.
Make sure it seats all the way back in the housing # 5.
Install housing to motor with 4 bolts and base #6.Install white ceramic part of seal into impeller # 2 with a little silicone around rubber part # 3.Screw on impeller C.W. until tight.Shaft should then turn with some resistence.( seal interference only )
Some booster pumps have a keyed shaft motor and a JACKSHAFT with ellen screws that let you adjust seal pressure. If your does, tighten the impeller tight on the jackshaft and then press in the impeller until it rubs housing # 5. Then only let it slide back foreward enough to not rub anymore and tighten ellen screws.
Put o-ring on # 4 and volute on # 1 .
Make sure impeller turns freely afterwards and prime pump.Check for leaks and never run without water.Good luck on your polaris letro arneson pool booster pump for pools.
